I felt that hats would ruin the slow nature that this song has, and more crashes would put the energy level of this track farther than I wanted. They're good suggestions but they were intentionally left out :P

As for the bassline, I see what you mean. I did try to work with it a ton but I still managed to make it extremely repetitive and boring.
